The Surroundings

We are part of the Sierra Alhamilla, a rural area that keeps alive its culture and tradition. El Cortijo Los Baños is located one kilometre from the village of Lucainena de las Torres, a small inland village characterized by its mining past and for maintaining its essence through time. It was awarded for its beauty and the care the villagers put in the look of their houses.  As part of Lucainenas ecological commitment, the “Via Verde has been created along the old mining railway, which connected the town with the coast of Aguamarga . Here you can go for long walks or cycle in this beautiful landscape.

The mild and short winters of Almería allow us to enjoy the nature most of the year. Notably this is the area of Europe that receives most hours of sunshine annually.

30 minutes away from the Cortijo is the cosy village of Aguamarga with its outstanding beaches. It is located inside the Natural Park of Cabo de Gata with its idyllic and unspoilt coves. An area of volcanic origin, the largest protected sea and land area around the Mediterranean.

The heart of the desert of Tabernas is located about 20 minutes drive from the Cortijo. This desert is a unique landscape in Europe with its peculiar forms of relief and its high aridity, which is typical for the province of Almería.

Over 300 movies have been filmed here, mainly westerns, amongst them the mythical “Trilogy of the dollar” of Sergio Leone with Clint Eastwood.

Within 15 minutes drive we find the Natural Park of Sorbas, with gypsum-karst caves and the stunning scenery of the canyon of “Molinos de Río de Aguas”.
